Kavya’s track ‘Golden’ provides the soundtrack to Asian Paints Colour of the Year campaign

In our latest sync news, Anara Publishing are pleased to announce that ‘Golden’ by Kavya was selected by Asian Paints in their ColorNext Colour of the Year campaign. Asian Paints discovered a gem in Kavya’s back catalogue, with Golden being released in 2019. The campaign was a collaborative project, working together with music supervisors Rahul Kannan and Sandesh Rao along with the production house Post Office Studios to bring the video to life.

KAVYA (Kavya Trehan) is a singer songwriter from New Delhi, India who’s been performing since the age of 14. Her solo project is a celebration of raw emotion and her roots, where all songs have been developed from guitar parts and trusty voice-notes. In order to constantly evolve as an artist, in 2016 she started writing music using Ableton. Since then, she is on a relentless spree of releasing her own material, the most recent being her debut EP ‘Know Me Better’ that has more of a R&B, electronic and indie-pop feel. Over the last few months Kavya has taken her music global, travelling to the U.S to perform at the coveted SXSW festival in Austin, Texas and is currently in the middle of a short UK tour.

‘Golden’ is an ode of self-love atop sparse percussion, bass lines and soft piano chords. Her songwriting continues to feature a carefree structural approach, lending her songs a conversational quality through sporadic lyrical phrases and melodic variance, while making the track abstract enough to avoid being overtly pop.

Kavya joined the Anara Publishing roster in 2020, amid the first lockdown, as she looked to find the right partner to take care of her publishing rights as well as find her music a new audience through sync. Together, we’ve already seen great success with other projects including the placement of her track “Underscore” within Apple’s Instagram campaign for Diwali in 2021.

Talking about this latest sync, Kavya said “The ‘Golden’ sync with Asian Paints was perfect because not only is the name of the song a colour, but the song sat so well with their advert. It’s been lovely getting to jam with Anara and looking forward to more adventures ahead!”
