Beginning life in spring 2015 from the ashes of their previous incarnation, The Bluebeat Arkestra, FABRIK (German for ‘factory’, a nod to the iconic record label of the same name) immediately began writing and self-recording; dividing sessions between their Birmingham lock-up and the Welsh countryside.  The result was the album, City Islands, which was released in August 2017.

Incorporating strands as varied as ambient soundscapes, slowed-down jungle beats and fierce guitar work, City Islands and its singles won praise and support from BBC Introducing as well as local radio and TV outlets.  It is a perfect encapsulation of the group’s strong writing and arranging, from the anthemic trip-rock of ‘Whitestar’, through the blistering attack of ‘Animal’ to the soaring lyricism of ‘Murmuration’, to name but three.

Prolific and experienced writers both collectively and individually, FABRIK are already deep into recording their second album, as well as conceiving and directing videos for all of the tracks on City Islands and compiling a remix album in collaboration with artists from all over the globe.

FABRIK expertly blend an incredibly eclectic wealth of influences (from the Sex Pistols to Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi, to pick two at random) to create music that is at once ethereal and accessible, atmospheric and melodic.
