At 16, she began recording acoustic demos in a local studio, sharing them on SoundCloud. Influenced by artists like Phoebe Bridgers and Bon Iver, Taylor developed a distinctive indie folk sound characterized by melancholic and introspective themes.
Raised in the church, Taylor’s early exposure to gospel music laid a foundation for her vocal development. Upon moving to Vancouver to pursue her Bachelor of Arts, she became captivated by the city’s vibrant music scene, particularly the emotive depth and rhythmic complexity of contemporary R&B. Inspired by artists such as Brent Faiyaz, The Weeknd, and Mahalia, she seamlessly integrated lush harmonies with soulful melodies, enriching her sound with R&B’s rhythmic depth.
In 2019, Taylor signed with an indie label, releasing her debut single, Little Sister, which garnered over 150K streams on Spotify and was featured on editorial playlists including Indie Pop Chill Out, Chilled Pop Hits, and Fresh Finds: Poptronix. Her track Patiently received airplay on CBC Radio, further establishing her presence in the indie music scene. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Taylor was selected to participate in an artist development program led by Nael Atweh, Manager of Sabrina Claudio. This experience empowered her to pursue independent releases, leading to a series of singles that reflect her evolving artistry. Her first independent release, No Excuses, landed on Spotify’s Indie Pop Chill Out editorial playlist, marking a new chapter in her career as she embraced full creative control over her music.
After completing her degree, Taylor performed live with her band across Vancouver, collaborating with Sofar Sounds for intimate sessions. In 2023, she relocated to Montreal, Quebec, where she continues to evolve as an artist. Her music, described as a mesmerizing blend of R&B and lullaby-pop, is characterized by powerful, unapologetic lyrics and a sound uniquely her own.
