Outside of his film work, Murtuza started putting out his original songs in 2020, collaborating with Lakshya Bhatnagar on his debut release ‘Farq Hai’. This was followed up in 2021 with ‘Roobaroo’, the first track with now his long-term collaborator Kimera.
2022 has gotten off to an exciting start, working with artists such as Simetri and Rutvik Talashilkar on the tracks ‘Mera Parinda’ and ‘Mehfooz’. An EP is in the works to be released later in the year. Murtuza’s releases have been supported by the likes of Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, JioSaavn and Resso editorial playlists with over 150k+ monthly listeners across these platforms.
As a songwriter, Murtuza is known for his underlying lyrics, unique vocabulary, and ability to adapt to multiple styles of writing. He has shown his diversity by writing the likes of the heavy Urdu worded ‘Ruh’ as well as the simple, sweet ‘Khoya Sa’.
